Tutoring became an important part of my life in elementary school, when I volunteered to help the kindergartners learn to read. In high school, I spent a summer as a math camp tutor who helped students struggling in pre-algebra and algebra, and served as a student tutor tutoring my peers after school. Currently, I'm a student at Reed College in the Portland, Oregon, area.I believe that being a good teacher is about building a comfortable yet professional relationship with every student so that I'm able to personalize their learning experience. While I tutor students in numerous subjects, English is my favorite subject -- I'm an English major. I'm available to tutor students in reading, writing, phonics, English, and grammar -- I even spent some time creating my own grammar worksheet for my students. I also enjoy helping students write and edit essays, as well as working with ESL/ELL students. In addition to English-related subjects, I have experience tutoring students in different mathematics subjects, including elementary and middle school math, pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, precalculus, trigonometry, and differential equations. I also offer test prep services to high school students who are preparing to take the ACT and SAT. In my spare time, I enjoy knitting, writing, puzzles, and RPG games.
